Waiting for fluffy mail

It takes too long :(

I have a ton of fabric on the way. I finally decided that I'm going to make Mieke's diapers myself, though I'm still ordering some Flips/inserts once they get back in stock, and I also ordered a dozen preemie prefolds. But I decided the only way I could get cheap diapers that I liked and had everything I wanted was to make them myself. So, I'm awaiting some chocolate brown cotton velour for the inners (along with my OBV I already have), a bunch of bamboo/cotton jersey in a few colors, and a pair of snap pliers and snaps.

And of course, I'm waiting for yarn. Yep, I'm going wool. Not ALL the time, as I can't really afford a full wool stash, but at least part time. I'm very slowly knitting a gown for the baby out of some merino I dyed myself but I really need to hurry up-I have some gorgeous yarn on the way!

I'm waiting for a nice amount of Comfort Wool Co. *Tweet* and trim, Mosaic Moon *Woodland in Spring* with trim and *Chocolate Lollipop* scraps (I've got solid dyed Cestari on the way as well, to use with those scraps), and I found a DBK coop. If I get in on that, oh my....I HAVE to get some Storybook Ending, Peppermint Forest, and Jungle Chic, and I like You Jane as well, I'm just not sure I have much to go with it. And I'm still on the hunt for some MM Birthday Girl. I wanted some Purewool as well but I'm looking for a coop instead...they were trying to rip me off on shipping via email and it made me mad.

I should probably start cutting stuff out and such, but I think I'll just keep procrastinating until I get the house all clean before baby :)

Choices Overload.

I can't decide what the heck to do for Mieke's diaper stash. Kai is totally good to go-nothing but Flips for him. They work great, even though he decided to start pooping a lot more often and it usually gets on the cover, but they are VERY easy to hand wash.

Anyway, the fact that Kaidyn's solid poo (tmi, I know.) gets on the covers made me realize that with a newborn, I would be washing covers EVERY change. NO THANK YOU. So, I still have a dozen infant prefolds that I will be using, but I've come to the conclusion that I really need something with elastic in the legs (and preferably in the back) to hold in explosive newborn poop.

The good news is, that means me using wool for those first months won't be so silly. The bad news is...fitteds aren't cheap. And I still want to get her some Flip covers since I love them so and since she has all of these cute outfits that she couldn't wear with wool. I have a $200 budget, though I might be able to get some more money out of Scott (lol) and I'm still hoping for some possible presents in the form of more diapers.

Now, I have some fabric I could use to make some, but it wouldn't work with just this fabric. And I really want some cute prints. So, I think I might order some Graham Bear Wear dipes along with some cotton velour to make some myself. Then I get color AND pretty prints for a bit less...though not much, honestly. However, these are sized and only good for small babies, which annoys me...I really would prefer a one size diaper with the elastic. Which brings me to another option: Contours. One size fitteds tend to be pricey (I think the cheapest I've seen are BuggaBuggaBoutique's and even those are $12 and are more of a contour style in that they have no closures). Kissaluvs has a new contour style that might work, but theres no elastic in the back. These would be insanely easy to make though...and I could make them really thin. The con is that it'd probably be close to as much as the sized fitteds to make and I wouldn't be able to resell them for much. Oh and it'd take me quite a bit of sewing to make a full stash.

Another thing is that I want some pockets. I don't need them, but I really want them for lazy days and night changes. I know I like BGs but I'd definitely convert them to snaps, voiding any warranty. I like the look of Rumparoo's but they are spendy-and don't have the best reviews, so I don't think I'll go with those. Proraps makes cheap all in ones, but they take forever to dry and are boring. I did however find a site with Haute Pockets on clearance for cheap, so I might get some of those. I don't know, I can't make up my mind!

And I'm still eyeing a LOT of wool. I want some mosaic moon birthday girl, I want a couple of colorways from DBK's, but both aren't cheap. At all. But both also have really nice resale value...hmmm...right now though, I think I'll be ordering a bunch of Purewool since its cheap and soft, definitely getting some black and pink for some skull longies (shhh, Scott doesn't know yet, its a surprise :D), and probably some other solids. I have a thing for stripes right now. Oh and of course-I WILL be making some brown longies, since everything I like seems to have brown in it.

Back to knitting...

After wanting to sew and not being able to, I got back into a knitting kick. I dyed up some of the yarn I have and while I'm not happy with all of it yet, I do like one skein in particular. I also used some of my old yarn that I dyed up before. I'm not crazy about the colorway but I figured for a pair of hanging out around the house longies, who cares right?

Anyway, I started to knit another pair of longies out of the yarn I do like but I'm going to frog it and start over. I've decided it'd be perfect for a kimono baby gown. It's merino and soooo soft! This will be her main pajamas for awhile, I think. I mean then if she decides to be a super soaker in the middle of the night, hopefully I won't wake up in a puddle!

I can't find a pattern so I'm going to wing it. I'm scared. O_o

Also on the list: I'm buying some Purewool since it's pretty cheap and supposed to be VERY soft. I'll be making little longies out of that and maybe a dress for next winter. I've also got a possible custom lined up for some handspun yarn for a special pair for next winter and I'm going to be attempting to get some Disco Knits peppermint and storybook ending-or-Mosaic Moon birthday girl and birthday boy. I don't think I can get away with getting both unless something changes...just convincing Scott to let me spend that much on yarn is going to be hard enough as it is. If all else fails, I'll just stick with the Purewool and save our marriage to be. :)
